ARIS ….. ASSOCATION for RETIRED INSURANCE STAFF
The Insurance Institute of Cork has been blessed over the years with many fine Institute members and lifelong supporters, one of whom is Ray  Fitzgerald.  Ray felt the need that old colleagues on the Mall should meet and keep up old contacts and friendships and so following a well attended meeting at the    Imperial Hotel, on October 2^nd, 1981, the ASSOCATION for RETIRED  INSURANCE STAFF was  founded  ….ARIS.

ARIS was founded under, and remains under the auspices of The Insurance Institute of Cork.

ARIS MISSION;
To provide a structured forum whereby retired and semi-retired colleagues and their spouses can meet up and catch up in a friendly and convivial atmosphere where contact is the key. 
 

EVENTS

A must in the diary for members is the first Thursday of each month, when a talk  is arranged for members on various  topics, more details of which can be found in the Aris Magazine, which is downloadable below.

Each year the AGM is held in January and in December, a popular Christmas Lunch is held annually.

In May and July, outings are usually arranged to interesting places of interest 

e. g. museums, Inniscarra  Dam,  Coolmore Stud,  and typically include a lunch en route for the group. Every June, an annual boat trip is also organised down Cork Harbour.

GOLF   
Two Golf outings are held annually, on a scramble basis, normally in May and June.

ARIS TIMES

Our annual magazine ARIS TIMES is produced in time for the Christmas Lunch, and reviews the year’s activities.  It also also contains many articles recounting our members experience in the insurance industry before the arrival of computerisation.  In time it is expected that this collection will become an important historical record for the Institute.

CHARITIES
ARIS Members are very strong supporters of the Annual Charities Lunch organised by The Insurance Institute of Cork. 

FUNDING
Membership Fee is currently €25. 
Deceased member’s spouses are Associate members and the fee is €10. 
For Rural Members, the fee is €10.

A grant is received from The Insurance Institute of Ireland, and annually we receive sponsorship from local Insurers, Brokers, Loss Adjusters and Assessors.   These financial contributions are much appreciated and help keep the show on the road.
