Dear Member,

It is with profound gratitude and great humility I accept the office of President of The Insurance Institute of Dublin for 2009/2010. I promise to deliver the best I have to give and together with my council we are determined to serve the interests of our members with professionalism and a strong focus on progressive development.

In tough times – the tough get going and there’s more work to be done on both educational and ethical standards with the emphasis in the insurance industry focused on increasing professionalism:

The Insurance Institute of Ireland recently launched it 3-year strategic plan for 2009-2011 and we will work closely to help them achieve their plan. This opportunity enables The Insurance Institute of Dublin Council to channel our wealth of experience to give direction to and influence future qualifications, CPD policy and ethical behaviour standards to be implemented in step changes over the next 3-years.

A series of six lectures commencing 24th July 2009 have been scheduled all the way through to February 2010 in the National College of Ireland IFSC, Dublin.  I look forward to your continued support in large numbers to learn from the very interesting and distinguished list of speakers who have generously agreed to speak to our members. PSAB-GI and QFA accreditation will be applied accordingly.

I would like to encourage the thousands of students taking exams in April, October and January - my message to you is ‘take control of your own development’. You will all carry your academic achievement with you throughout your careers and your success will not go unnoticed. Your results will be mirrored and reflected in your work ethic and application to whatever role or specialist area you perform in the future.

Please note the date for The Insurance Institute Annual Dinner has reverted back to Friday, 4th December 2009 and conscious of the recessionary environment I would urge you to continue your solid support of this, the main event of the year and equally for the Charities Lunch in March 2010

On behalf of council and myself I would like to thank you all for your support and look forward to serving you over the next 12 months.

Thank You

Deirdre Murphy FCII, ACCA
President
