The Insurance Charities
The Insurance Charities provide
financial assistance to insurance employees,
pensioners and dependent relatives in difficulty,
and often help with expensive property adaptations
and equipment so that disabled colleagues can enjoy
much greater independence. Help is also available
for student children of career insurance employees,
where the students themselves have embarked on their
first-degree course.
Support is provided to people with
health problems for as long as is needed, while
temporary help is normally considered when the
applicant is in good health but has reduced means.
People who have given a long service to the industry
deserve our support when their own resources prove
insufficient; the Trustees will always try to
provide enough assistance to those whose office
pension has turned out to be inadequate, for
example, if it had not been inflation proofed.
Income in this fund is derived from
investments, individual and corporate donations, and
fund raising events in the Local Institutes, who
have been extremely successful in raising money for
the fund. The Annual Charities Day was held on the 7th
March 2008, and we are pleased to record that the
total amount raised for the Insurance Benevolent
Fund in 2007/2008 was €52,727. |
